The last rolling road for my car was on Friday the 25/8/06 on Wilshers Rolling road in Cambridge. The man in charge is legendary Mini tuner & racer Peter Baldwin.

I'd certainly recommend Peter, a top guy who knows his stuff.

We ran the car up to get some initial figures. The first run with no alterations showed 140hp with 10psi of boost. This was achieved on my own modified needle using the Air/Fuel gauge i have fitted.

Bringing the timing back two degrees saw the engine give maximum power at 28deg of total advance, so we set it to this.

The fuelling was found to be spot on as i'd previously modified the needle, {showing 7-8% c02 under load} so i decided to turn the boost up.
I upped the boost to 15psi, this gave a power reading of 180hp.
I decided to try a little more boost just to see if any more power could be gained, though I was doubtful if i'd see much more running the small T2 Turbo. 16psi gave us 184hp which seemed to be the peak, as 17/18psi still gave the same reading.
This was most certainly down to the intake charge temperatures. As they were climbing now, with the gauge showing 45-50deg or so, as we had no airflow over the intercooler {just a fan blowing on the radiator} raising the boost further was having no effect.
Out on the road the charge temps never get near that kind of level, usually sitting around 15-20deg, so i will probably run a little more boost and see what difference it makes.
Maximum power was produced at 5,700rpm, with the power curve dropping off rapidly after 6,000rpm. This is most certainly due to the small Turbo i'm using, rather than the cam, which will pull to 7,000+rpm. In the future i may change the cam to a slightly milder item, as i think i could still produce the same peak power but with better low down driveability.

Here's some footage of the day.

Out on the road the charge temps are a lot lower with proper airflow over the intercooler, so the car is running 20psi. Though this does seem to be about the limit of the T2 as far as efficiency is concerned, even with the big intercooler.
There is a noticeable power increase over 16psi, so i will be rolling roading the car again with a better airflow over the intercooler to see how much power has been gained.
